Nom officiel donné par l’Organisation mondiale de la Santé (OMS) à la pandémie causée par le SRAS-CoV-2. Le nom est composé de COVI pour COronaVIrus, D pour Disease et 19 pour indiquer 2019, soit l’année d’apparition des premières infections en Chine.
