Do I need to provide a doctor’s prescription when I come to my appointment?

Yes, a doctor’s prescription is required for all analyzes performed at Biron.

Why is an order necessary if I’m paying?

Section 136 of the Regulation respecting the application of the Act respecting medical laboratories, organ and tissue conservation and the disposal of human bodies stipulates that all work carried out by a medical biology laboratory must be carried out in response to an order signed by a duly-authorized professional under the Act governing the professional order to which he/she belongs.

Will my insurance reimburse me?

Test costs are reimbursed by most group medical expense insurance plans. We suggest you check your insurance contract because each plan is different.

How much do tests costs with Biron?

Each test has a different price. We need to know the tests requested on your order in order to determine the total price.

How long do I have to wait to get my results?

Test reports are sent directly to the treating physician within 24 to 48 hours, depending on the type of tests that were ordered. The wait time for the results of certain tests may exceed 48 hours. We can provide you with accurate information when you make your appointment.

Can I get my results over the phone?

Only the results of the following tests can be disclosed via telephone: PT INR, APTT, blood group, pregnancy, mononucleosis, direct streptococcus, urine culture and throat culture. However, we can send you your analysis report via secure email. Simply request it when you book your appointment.

Does it take a long time to get an appointment?

You can get an appointment on the same day, depending on the availability of where you want to go for your tests. It may take 24 to 48 hours depending on the centre.

Do I need to contact the clinic directly to get information or make an appointment?

No, you must contact our customer service at 1-800-463-7674. We will schedule an appointment for you at one of our service centres located throughout Quebec.

Do you have any allergists?

If I have a consultation request for allergies, can I come to Biron?

No, the purpose of this type of request is to see an allergist.

Why is it not possible to move or cancel my appointment through the Biron website?

The website does not currently offer this option. We are working hard to make this feature available for you soon!

Is it necessary to have an appointment to bring back a specimen?

Yes, for some locations. We recommend that you contact our Customer Service which will be able to guide you and provide you with accurate information.

Do you have a claim agreement with any insurance companies?

To date, only the SSQ agrees to deal directly with Biron.

Do you have doctors who can provide medical follow-ups?

Yes, an Express check-up is available for a minimum cost of $350. This includes an appointment with one of our health care professionals who can issue an order for medical tests.
