Biron Team

We are extremely proud to announce that the Biron Health Group has been named one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies for the 9th straight time. This recognition allows us to keep our place as a member of the prestigious Platinum Club—the program’s highest award level—for the third year in a row.

Over the past year, we have successfully adapted our business strategies, diversified our service offer and activities, launched strategic initiatives that encourage innovation, and promoted a diverse, inclusive, and collaborative work environment.

Sponsors of the Best Managed Companies program include Deloitte, CIBC and The TMX Group.

Here are 5 fruitful projects from 2024

1. Sleep care across the country

We opened a sleep care service centre in New Brunswick, offering in-person diagnostic services and sales of specialized equipment. The centre aims to improve access to specialized care for people in the region by providing them with personalized care close to home.

We also offer a fully digital pathway for sleep apnea therapy. A diagnosis can be accessed in Quebec, while all other services are available Canada-wide.

2. Workplace health is also available from sea to sea!

We have expanded our workplace health offerings by integrating the country’s largest telemedicine platform, Maple. Through this partnership, we now offer virtual medical consultations, which are available at any time, anywhere in Canada. In French or English, by text, voice call, or videoconference, our teams and our clients’ teams now have access to medical support 24/7.

3. At-home FOBT testing

We now offer the fecal occult blood test (FOBT), a simple, effective way of detecting traces of blood in the stool not visible to the naked eye, using an immunochemistry technique.

An essential colorectal cancer screening tool, this test is part of the growing trend toward at-home testing, which will continue to expand in the coming years. Eligible patients can order their sample kit online with no need to see a doctor first. Sending the sample back by mail makes the process even more accessible, especially for remote communities. By making it easier to access this at-home test, we are supporting early screening and helping patients access potentially more effective treatment.

4. Artificial intelligence

At Biron, artificial intelligence (AI) is being rolled out in three main areas.

Task automation

Significant initiatives have been established, such as complete process reviews, to optimize our operations and gain efficiency.

Generative AI

The explosion of generative artificial intelligence tools over the past two years—Copilot is one example—has aroused our curiosity. Driven by a strong culture of innovation, many of us quickly started trying out these tools in our daily tasks.

Medical AI

We see AI as a promising driver for expanding our service offer, especially for preventive health services.

5. A lively culture, underpinned by commitment

Our business culture relies on commitment, knowledge sharing, and collective well-being. Again this year, we have undertaken inspiring initiatives like Project Campus, aiming to create new opportunities for collaboration, discussion and inclusion within our organization. This project makes it easy for all our administrative staff to use workspaces located at different service centres.

We also launched “ÉclairSci,” a series of education capsules designed to broaden our scientific knowledge and stimulate the sharing of innovative perspectives. Our own specialists moderate the capsules.

Lastly, we are collaborating with our specialist workplace health team to improvement disability management. Through this partnership, we can offer our staff a more comprehensive range of services, with a nurse who can be consulted remotely. The nurse assists all our teams and actively supports managers with disability prevention and back-to-work transitions.
