We are very proud to announce that Biron Health Group has been named one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies for the eighth year in a row. This recognition has enabled us, for the second year in a row, to join the prestigious Platinum Club, the highest level of distinction awarded by this program.

best managed 2024

We have a clear, shared vision of the direction to follow, strengthening the company’s identity and culture, and helping us make coherent strategic decisions. These elements were key factors contributing to our positioning in this prestigious ranking, demonstrating our deep commitment to excellence and our ability to align our efforts with our company’s strategic objectives.

This distinction also testifies to our initiatives aimed at supporting the overall well-being of our employees, both in the workplace and their personal lives. We offer policies and practices that include a stimulating work environment, professional development opportunities, attractive benefits and flexible working hours. We share this success with all our teams, without whom we could not have achieved all we did in 2023.

The Best Managed Companies program is sponsored by Deloitte, CIBC, TMX Group and others.

Here are five flagship projects in 2023:

Artificial intelligence at the heart of sleep care

In addition to embracing a digital transformation that makes the patient’s journey easier, we have integrated artificial intelligence (AI) into the analysis of sleep studies in order to improve our efficiency. This step forward has enabled us to maintain our leading position in the market, while overcoming a shortage of specialized staff. In concrete terms, this has helped us maintain our short turnaround times for delivering test results to patients and referring physicians. In the coming years, we plan to use AI to improve our screening algorithms and recommendation tools for patients.

The power of genetics and pharmacogenomics

2023 was a great year for Biron Genetics! The subsidiary achieved SOC2 Type 2 certification, one of the most widely recognized in the world of technology. At Biron Genetics, this certification means, among other things, greater customer confidence, the development of solid business relationships and the implementation of a culture of improved data security. This year also saw the launch of our new pharmacogenomic tests. With PGx2, more genetic variants are tested, allowing for better drug coverage. For example, our test recognizes drugs used to treat mental health disorders.

Biomonitoring at Montreal-Trudeau International Airport

In collaboration with the Canadian government and Montreal-Trudeau International Airport, Biron Health Group has inaugurated a state-of-the-art laboratory.

The cutting-edge equipment at this facility is used to protect the public by providing tests with a speed unmatched anywhere else in the country. Thanks to this three-way collaboration, a complete biomonitoring laboratory is now available directly at the point of transit for millions of travellers every year. In the event that a new high-risk contagious pathogen emerges, Canadian public health authorities can call on Biron to activate this laboratory and provide high-quality service at this strategic point of entry.

The health centre, located on the airport premises, offers laboratory and occupational health services. These services are available for consultation to individuals, YUL employees or travellers who may require an emergency appointment or a health check-up.

STBBI screening without a prescription

Screening for STBBIs can be a sensitive and personal matter. The fact that screening is available without a medical prescription offers greater confidentiality and easier accessibility. This practice also promotes prevention and early diagnosis, as well as awareness and education about STBBIs. This helps asymptomatic people take charge of their sexual health proactively and responsibly. For Biron Medical Laboratory, the service enables us to reach out directly to a younger clientele.

Rolling out online appointments for medical imaging

Our aim was to give our patients full control and autonomy when booking appointments. Since its deployment, more than 10,000 appointments have been booked via email and text message. Increased efficiency, no need to wait on the phone to speak to a customer service agent, along with a considerable reduction in the time it takes to process an appointment request, are just some of the benefits we have seen.
