Patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 with an antigenic or other test and would like to be tested by PCR can be seen at our point of service located in Brossard, adapted to their situation.

Molecular test that identifies individuals potentially infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus at the time of testing. This polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test for SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) looks for viral RNA in a sample of secretions from the nose and throat (oropharyngeal and nasopharyngeal swab).

A doctor's prescription is not required for COVID-19 RT-PCR testing.
Due to a ministerial decree, a medical prescription is no longer required for the COVID-19 RT-PCR test. If you have one, you must still bring it with you to your appointment. The duration of this measure is unspecified.

What forms do the results of the COVID-19 molecular RT-PCR test take?

A positive result: indicates that SARS-CoV-2 RNA has been detected and that you are considered infected with COVID-19 and presumably contagious.

A negative result: means that SARS-CoV-2 RNA was not present in your sample. You are not infected with COVID-19.
