My typical day usually starts by preparing my files for the day, while enjoying a good cup of coffee. Then, I do consultations, one appointment at a time. My receptionist helps me with my tasks – we make a great team!
I like building a relationship of trust with the people I provide support to. I find it rewarding to listen to them and respond to their needs and concerns. We have a large intergenerational clientele, so the approach may differ from one client to another. You have to know how to adapt, which makes the work less routine. Listening and empathy must always be a priority.
I help them adapt to and even accept treatment. Often, these people will even contact us to let us know just how much the sleep disorder treatment has changed their lives! It’s a great achievement and the reason why I want to continue doing my job well.

I am a training instructor, which means I support respiratory therapists, sleep care professionals, and respiratory therapy assistants in their day-to-day work. I guide them through processes, answer questions, and actively participate in training new employees. Sometimes, I also provide support to patients through online chat or teleconsultation to answer their questions and help them with their therapy.
I love seeing the difference I can make in people’s lives. Sleep is so important! And giving someone back their quality of life is very satisfying as a sleep respiratory therapist! Being involved in my colleagues’ training enables me to make a difference every day and play an active part in developing our team’s skills. Training motivates me!
I think that I make a real difference in people’s lives through my expertise, approach and knowledge. When I help people, I also have the opportunity to see all the positive impacts this has on the lives of those around them. I also think that, through training, I have an indirect impact on the quality of patients’ treatment and, as a result, on their quality of sleep.
