Biron genetics division receives SOC 2 Type 2 certification

For the second consecutive year, following an independent audit conducted by the firm KPMG recognized for its high level of reliability, precision, and professionalism, the genetic division of Biron Health Group receives the SOC2 Type 2 certification. This makes it one of the first companies in the health sector in Quebec to obtain this certification for two years in a row.

What is SOC 2 Type 2 certification?

Protecting personal data has always been a priority for Biron. This certification, renowned worldwide in the technology industry, implies the application of even stricter and more rigorous standards. As it is renewed annually, the certification ensures, among other things, that everything is in place to protect the personal information our genetics division collects on our patients.

Rigorous process

To achieve this certification, the company underwent an independent external audit covering nine key points and 75 control elements in IT, Human Resources, Legal Affairs, Finance, Quality and various areas of the genetics division.

At all times, Biron’s genetics division must be able to demonstrate that the control elements meet the standards for personal data security.

Team effort

Implementing the elements required for this certification entailed the collaboration of colleagues from Development, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Human Resources and Legal Affairs. Their commitment throughout the process was remarkable. We would also like to acknowledge the professionalism of our external consultant, Calin Lupan, who accompanied and guided us in preparing for the audit.

With this certification, we can stand out to our customers and partners by assuring them that we are doing everything possible to protect our patients’ data.
