For travellers departing from YUL Montreal-Trudeau Airport
Pre-departure COVID-19 detection by rapid RT-PCR, available directly at YUL Montreal-Trudeau Airport
Approved by government authorities, this molecular test identifies individuals potentially infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus at the time of testing. This polymerase chain reaction test for SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) looks for viral RNA in a sample of secretions from the nose and throat. This test is equivalent to a PCR test performed in a laboratory and meets all the highest requirements in terms of performance.
Cost: $299 for the sampling, analysis and attestation of negative result
Cost reimbursed by most insurers
Type of sample: Oropharyngeal and nasopharyngeal swab
For individuals 2 years and older
Test conducted on the day of your fligh at YUL, in a specially equipped room on the mezzanine level of the U.S. departures area (before pre-boarding security check point) at door 11
Results available in approximately 1 hour (must wait for the result without leaving the airport)
It is your responsibility to set an appropriate date and time for your appointment and to ensure that your country of destination, as well as any other country where you will be making a stopover, accepts PCR testing as a screening method for COVID-19. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) and Travel and Tourism Canada continually update travel requirements for various destinations.
How to proceed?
Step 1: Booking an appointment
We recommend that you contact us to book an appointment at least 3 days before your flight.
You must allow sufficient time to take the test, receive the result and carry out all the usual formalities related to your flight. It is strongly recommended to book an appointment at least 4 hours before your flight.
Present yourself at the exact time of your appointment, on the mezzanine level of the U.S. departures area (before pre-boarding security check point) at door 11.
Have your passport and travel documents with you.
Allow sufficient time to complete the test, check in your luggage, obtain your boarding pass and make your way through pre-boarding checks. YUL Montréal-Trudeau International Airport and Biron cannot be held responsible if you are late for boarding.
If you experience symptoms similar to those of COVID-19 on the day of your appointment, or if within the previous 14 days you have had more than 15 minutes of cumulative unprotected contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19, do not go to the airport and follow the health guidelines in effect.
Step 3: Test result
Biron will make every effort to issue results within approximately 1 hour. You will not be allowed to leave the airport while waiting for your result. If you fail to comply with this rule, you will not be provided with a result and you will be required to take a new test.
If your result is negative, this means that SARS-CoV-2 RNA was not present in your sample. You are not infected with COVID-19. Present yourself at the check-in counter of your airline with your attestation in hand.
If your result is positive, this indicates that SARS-CoV-2 RNA has been detected and that you are considered infected with COVID-19 and presumably contagious. You will not be allowed to travel. You will need to contact your carrier to notify it. You will be required to leave the premises in accordance with public health guidelines. People traveling with you with whom you have had close contact may have to postpone their flight as per public health guidelines. Since you will not be allowed to use public transportation to leave the airport, you should have a plan for returning home before your departure.
